Border Insurance

A border insurance policy is a compulsory short-term third-party liability insurance policy issued for motor vehicles registered abroad that enter and temporarily operate within the territory of the Republic of Albania. It serves as proof of TPL insurance for the duration of the vehicle’s stay in the country when the vehicle does not have a Green Card valid for Albania.

In accordance with Albanian legislation on compulsory insurance in the transport sector, border insurance covers the driver’s legal liability for bodily injury and property damage caused to third parties while driving within Albanian territory, subject to the limits established by the applicable regulations.

This policy is issued at border crossing points and is valid for a limited period, depending on the duration of the vehicle’s stay in the country. It protects parties affected by road accidents and ensures compliance with the legal requirements governing foreign vehicles operating in Albania.
