Passenger Accident Insurance in Public Transport is a compulsory insurance policy that provides financial protection for passengers using road, rail, sea, or air public transport services in the event of bodily injury, temporary or permanent disability, or death resulting from an accident during travel.
In accordance with Albanian legislation on compulsory insurance in the transport sector (Law No. 32/2021) and the relevant secondary legislation, this insurance guarantees compensation for injured passengers regardless of the carrier’s liability, providing a basic level of social and financial protection for public-transport users.
Coverage generally includes medical expenses, compensation for temporary or permanent disability, and compensation for heirs in the event of death. This insurance contributes to improved public-transport safety and ensures standardised protection for all passengers throughout their journey.
