Cyber Liability Insurance provides financial protection for private-sector entities against losses and liabilities arising from cyber incidents, such as hacking attacks, data breaches, IT system disruptions, and breaches of information and personal-data security. Subject to the policy terms, it covers incident-response costs, notification of affected customers, system recovery, legal expenses, and compensation to third parties.
Under Albanian legislation on cybersecurity and the protection of critical information infrastructure, entities operating in sensitive sectors—including energy, finance, telecommunications, healthcare, and public services—have enhanced obligations to ensure the security of their systems and manage cyber risk.
In this context, cyber insurance is considered an important supporting tool for meeting regulatory requirements and strengthening the operational and financial resilience of entities managing critical or important information infrastructure.
